Terms of Service

By accessing or using Pingdot, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

These Terms apply to all users including free (Hobby) and paid (Pro, Business) plan users.

Pingdot provides uptime monitoring, incident management, and public status page features for websites, APIs, and services. We offer:

• HTTP, TCP, and DNS monitoring checks
• Customizable status pages with subscriber notifications
• Incident creation, updates, and resolution tracking
• Email and webhook alert delivery
• Public REST API for data access

You must provide a valid email address and create a password to use Pingdot. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Accounts created with false information may be terminated.

One person or entity may not maintain more than one free account.

You agree not to use Pingdot to:

• Monitor services you do not own or have permission to monitor
• Perform denial-of-service attacks or abuse our infrastructure
• Scrape, reverse engineer, or access our systems outside the API
• Send spam via webhook deliveries or subscriber notifications
• Resell or sublicense access to the service without permission
• Store, transmit, or distribute malicious code

Hobby (Free): Free forever, subject to plan limits. No credit card required.

Pro and Business: Paid plans billed monthly or annually. Prices are listed on our pricing page and may change with 30 days notice.

Refunds: We offer refunds within 7 days of initial purchase if you are unsatisfied. Contact support@pingdot.io to request a refund.

Downgrades: If you downgrade to a free plan, features exceeding Hobby limits will be disabled but data will be preserved for 30 days.

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee 100% uptime. Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance on our status page at pingdot.io/status.

Pingdot is not liable for missed alerts or monitoring gaps caused by infrastructure issues beyond our control.

You retain ownership of your data (monitor configurations, incident content, status page content). By using Pingdot, you grant us a limited license to process and store your data to provide the service.

We do not access your monitored endpoints' content — only response codes, timing, and headers necessary for monitoring.

The Pingdot name, logo, codebase, and product design are our intellectual property. You may not use them without permission.

Our API responses may be used to build integrations and internal tooling. Redistribution as a competing service is not permitted.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice depending on severity.

You may cancel your account at any time from your dashboard settings. Upon cancellation, your data will be retained for 30 days before permanent deletion.

Pingdot is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pingdot shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users with at least 14 days notice. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration unless prohibited by law.
